Job Description

Job Objectives

  • Responsible for overseeing security operations, including supervision of internal and outsourced personnel, to ensure effective protection of staff, assets, and facilities.
  • Ensures proper implementation of surveillance, access control, and incident response procedures to mitigate risks and maintain a secure environment.

Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of internal and outsourced security operatives.
  • Monitor patrols, surveillance systems, and access control processes to ensure effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely detection, reporting, and response to security incidents and threats.
  • Enforce security policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Oversee incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities and liaise with relevant authorities when required.
  • Identify security risks such as theft, vandalism, or violence and implement deterrent measures.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits of security operations and personnel performance.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to security staff.

Competence Requirements

  • Proven capability to lead, motivate, and hold accountable a large, diverse guard force comprising both direct employees and third-party contractors.
  • Sound understanding of physical access control mechanisms, electronic surveillance monitoring (CCTV), visitor management systems, and emergency communication equipment.
  • High attention to detail with an analytical mindset capable of spotting security gaps, assessing potential threats, and executing defensive protocols under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for writing objective technical incident reports and directing emergency teams. Exceptional emotional intelligence and calmness during crises.
  • Strong teamwork mindset and full readiness to work rotating shift patterns (including nights, weekends, and holidays) to maintain unbroken 24/7 terminal security.

Educational Qualification

  • Minimum of a HND or bachelor’s degree in security management, Criminology, Information Technology (IT), or a related social science discipline.

Professional Qualification

  • Certifications in supervisory security management, asset protection, or membership in a recognized security body (e.g., ASIS International, NIIS) is a strong advantage.

Desired Experience

  • 3–5 years of active, hands-on experience in industrial security operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory capacity. Experience within maritime ports, industrial free zones, or heavy logistics environments is highly preferred.
