Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain material codes in the ERP system as per company standards.
- Ensure proper classification, nomenclature, and descriptions of materials following industry best practices.
- Work closely with procurement, inventory, and engineering teams to define material specifications and avoid duplication.
- Implement standard naming conventions and taxonomy to enhance searchability and identification.
- Ensure compliance with internal material master data policies and procedures.
- Verify and validate new material requests to prevent redundancy and standardize material categories.
- Assist in auditing and cleansing existing material codes to improve data quality.
- Generate reports and insights related to material code usage and effectiveness.
- Provide training and support to end users on material code standards and best practices.
- Work with Project teams to enhance ERP material master data functionalities.
Functional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of material master data management and codification systems.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP (MM Module), Oracle, or Ivalua.
- Understanding of engineering materials used in chemical plants (piping, valves, instruments, mechanical components, electrical items).
- Familiarity with international coding/classification standards (e.g., UNSPSC, ISO standards).
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, datasheets, and engineering documents.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, validation, lookup functions).
- Knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes.

Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Project, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5 – 8 years of experience in material master data management, preferably in manufacturing, construction, oil & gas, or other industrial sectors.
