Job Description

Job Purpose

  • The Senior Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all production activities in DPL to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations.
  • This role ensures optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and raw materials while meeting quality standards, delivery timelines, and profitability targets.
  • The position requires strong technical expertise in PP woven sack production and proven leadership in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management:

  • Plan, organize, and control daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet sales and dispatch requirements.
  • Oversee all stages of PP sack production, including extrusion, weaving, lamination, printing, cutting, stitching, and baling.
  • Ensure maximum up time and coordinate closely with maintenance for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
  • Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs.
  • Monitor production KPIs such as output, efficiency, wastage, downtime, and manpower productivity.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Work with QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues and customer complaints.

Manpower & Leadership:

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate production supervisors and operators.
  • Plan manpower requirements, shift schedules, and on-the-job training programs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support skill development of production staff.
  • Maintain discipline, safety awareness, and teamwork on the production floor.

Cost Control & Continuous Improvement:

  • Control production costs, including raw material usage, power consumption, labor, and consumables.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency enhancement.
  • impliment lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage production budgets and reports for management review.

Safety & Maintenance Coordination:

  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely servicing and calibration of machines.

Reporting & Coordination:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
  • Coordinate with procurement, sales, logistics, and finance departments.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology, Inductrial Engineering or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum requirement: 8–12+ years of experience in plastic packaging or PP woven sack manufacturing; at least 5 years in a senior production or plant management role.
  • Added Advantage: Strong technical knowledge of PP woven sack machinery and processes.

Competence:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of PP extrusion, circular looms, lamination, printing, and sack conversion.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage high-volume production under tight deadlines.
  • Good understanding of cost control, productivity improvement, and quality systems.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and production planning tools.
